pronounced “Three-Bee” and a play on words of ‘freebie’ this was South Africa’s first-ever mobile technology-based television loyalty campaign! The campaign used SMS technology as the platform to communicate with and reward viewers for watching SABC 3’s programme line-up and in the process set radically new benchmarks for viewer interactivity.
NESTLE Nonstop Ice Cream Sure Win
Nestle in partnership with Globe Gentxt, which is the Philippines’ largest mobile community, launched the Nestle Nonstop promotion. All Nestle Nonstop ice cream variants were seeded with keywords which they could text in to avail of prizes. Gentxt was able to grow its mobile community while Nestle was able to target its product to Gentxt’s mobile subscriber base.
HEINZ UFC Catsup Pamilyunaryo
21 Million bottles were seeded with unique codes in this massive Heinz UFC Ketchup promotion! Instant load was given to thousands of participants as well so hardly anyone came empty handed. Xurpas generated all the codes, and developed the technical backend for the promotion.
Sprite Thirst Challenge
An entire MTV lifestyle / Music themed trivia game using the mobile phone was built around the Sprite brand. For consumers to participate, they had to SMS in a unique code found in all Sprite products. Over 65 million cans and bottles in South Africa were seeded with unique codes and promotion mechanics making this one of the largest mobile campaigns run by the Coca-Cola group ever.
McDonald’s Text Delivery
McDonald’s first ever SMS Food delivery service! McDonald’s created special menus that can only be ordered via SMS. Users can also use Globe Telecom’s G-CASH mobile payment system to pay for their orders, making the transaction completely paperless. This service was provided in partnership with Pilipinas Teleserv, a leading Philippine call center.
SNICKERS Mad Summer
Snickers’ on-pack SMS promotion was run by Xurpas for the summer of 2004! Sales of Snickers increased dramatically as each individual Snickers bar was seeded with unique codes. Xurpas put together all of the technical aspects of the activity.
